Michelle Fournie (she/her/hers) is a mother and auntie who raises her children in what we now call Chestermere, Alberta. As a Citizen belonging to and claimed by Lii Michif, she respects Niitsítapi Territory and Laws, the oral and written promises storied as part of Treaty #7, and the autonomy of the Otimpemisiwak (“those that rule themselves”) – Métis Nation of Alberta's Rocky View District 4 within the Northwest Métis Homeland.
Named Calgary’s Top 40 Under 40, Michelle is the founder of Sacred Four Communications, and manages an Indigenous Student Support Centre. She holds a master’s degree in land- based educational research from the University of Calgary and graduated as Valedictorian from Mount Royal University with a Bachelor of Communications - Public Relations degree.
Michelle is an avid thrift shopper, cake connoisseur, and an amateur beadwork artist. She weaves humour, poetry and Indigenous scholarship into her decolonization methodology remaining accountable to a strong circle of mentors, Indigenous youth, and her community throughout her Reconciliatory practice.
