The focus of this course is on understanding and applying the practices of meaningful and effective public participation (P2). The training explores principles, concepts and best practices, and how to design and apply this knowledge to your public participation and engagement work.

Tanushree Pillai is a passionate anti-racism educator with a background in journalism, communications, and public engagement. A dedicated social justice advocate, she consistently challenges the status quo and advocates for a fairer world for all children of color. As a parent, she is deeply committed to creating a just and equitable environment for future generations.
Tanushree has over 20 years of experience in journalism, communications, and public engagement. She has planned and implemented engagements using both in-person and virtual engagement techniques for sectors like government, transportation, non-profit, and education. She focuses her work on amplifying the voices of equity-denied groups and pursuing racial equity and justice across all sectors of society. Tanushree's experience includes planning both virtual and in-person engagement, workshops and focus groups, media relations, vendor management, report writing, and developing communications and engagement plans.
She is also the co-chair of IAP2 Canada's DEI Community of Practice where she brings in case studies and speakers to highlight meaningful engagement.
