IAP2 Canada Board of Directors — Call for Nominations (2026–2029)
IAP2 Canada invites members to consider serving on the Board of Directors. Directors help guide the strategic direction and governance of the organization while supporting the advancement of public participation practice across Canada.
Members may self-nominate or nominate another eligible candidate by completing the application form below.

The Nominations and Elections Committee is particularly seeking candidates with experience in:
Legal
Governance
Financial oversight
Additional skills in public participation, nonprofit leadership, strategy, and equity perspectives are also valuable.
Role of the Board
The Board of Directors provides governance and strategic oversight for IAP2 Canada. Key responsibilities include:
Setting the strategic direction of the organization
Ensuring sound governance and financial stewardship
Upholding bylaws and organizational values
Advancing the practice of public participation in Canada
Representing the interests of IAP2 Canada members
Term & Expectations
Term length: 3 years
Start date: September 1, 2026
Maximum service: Two consecutive terms (6 years)
Structure: Terms are staggered; approximately one-third of the Board elected each year
Directors are expected to:
Attend and prepare for Board meetings
Participate in discussions and decisions
Serve on at least one committee or task force
Contribute strategic insight
Represent IAP2 Canada professionally
Time Commitment
Board members typically contribute 6–10 hours per month, including:
Monthly Board meetings
Committee participation
Preparation and document review
Occasional strategic discussions
The Board also holds at least one in-person meeting annually (typically strategic planning).
Volunteer Position
Board Directors serve in a volunteer capacity and are not remunerated.
Approved expenses related to Board activities, including travel for in-person meetings, may be reimbursed in accordance with IAP2 Canada policies.

May 18–31, 2026 — Voting period (if required)
June 2026 — Results announced at AGM
July 2026 — Board orientation
