IAP2 Canada completed a major organizational shift in 2025. The Board transitioned from an operational to a governance model, a full professional operations team was brought on, and a five-year strategic plan was approved and put into action.
A Message from Leadership
A Year of Purposeful Change
Rebecca A. L. Smith joined IAP2 Canada as Executive Director on July 2, 2025, one of four new full-time operations team members brought on as part of a significant shift in how the organization runs. Earlier in the year, the Board of Directors completed a strategic planning process that led to a key decision: moving from an operational board to a governance board. The change reflected what many had already recognized, that IAP2 Canada had grown beyond what volunteers and part-time contractors alone could support.
Since July 2025, the new team has focused on streamlining systems, acting on auditor recommendations, strengthening relationships with Chapters and Communities of Practice, and laying the groundwork for the 2026 North American Conference. The 2025 to 2027 Strategic Plan is well underway.
