About the presenters:
Rachael  Jones is a Project Manager within the Long-term Planning Team in Solid Waste Services at the City of Ottawa and has managed the development of the City’s Solid Waste Master Plan over the last 4 years. Previously, Rachael worked in solid waste management in Metro Vancouver for 7 years, where she managed collection contracts, planned and implemented new waste reduction and diversion initiatives and managed the wildlife management program (which often involved coming into very close range with black bears…).

Throughout her career, Rachael has stressed the importance of comprehensive public and stakeholder engagement strategies when planning and implementing projects and programs that impact communities, which has played a crucial role in community buy-in for new plans and initiatives and in supporting the behaviour change needed for more sustainable waste management. With a Masters in International Relations, Rachael brings a global perspective and emphasizes the importance of action and collaboration at multiple levels of government, along with international cooperation, in order to achieve a more sustainable future.
