Justin Jones is a Community Engagement Specialist and Active Transportation Planner based out of WSP’s Thornhill Office. He specializes in working with clients to share best practices, design effective community engagement and create ambitious, but achievable programs to improve inclusion, accessibility, and sustainability. Justin’s area of expertise is in the Transportation Planning realm, with a particular passion for Complete Streets, Vision Zero and Active Transportation projects. He is adept at putting complex technical principles into plain language, ensuring that the public can better understand how decisions are made and what impacts they will have on their communities going forward.
Justin is an Executive Member of the International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) Great Lakes Chapter, an active participant in the Indigenous Engagement Community of Practice. Justin is also an alumnus of the inaugural class of the Dignity Institute – an engagement framework based on the Dignity Infused Community Engagement (DICE) Method to centre the experiences of communities that have traditionally been left out of the planning process. Justin’s focus is on building engagement strategies that deliberately ask the question “who is not in the room?” and then takes efforts to include those voices. He works to build projects that are equitable, sustainable and adaptable to the changing needs of every community where he works.
