Alison Fraser

Executive Director

Alison Fraser has over 20 years of marketing communications experience with organizations such as Rogers, Entertainment One, Vancouver Coastal Health, and Telefilm Canada. She is a graduate of the Beedie School of Business Executive MBA program at Simon Fraser University, and she also holds a Master's Degree in Journalism from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York City.

She has served on the boards of the Eastside Culture Crawl, Community Arts Council of Vancouver, the International Association for Public Participation and three Vancouver civic agencies. Her management consulting work focuses on developing corporate strategies with an ESG lens and supporting organizations in identifying their purpose while ensuring their business decisions, supply chain, culture, governance and operations align with their values.

Sarah Alvarado

Marketing & Communications Consultant

Sarah is a seasoned communications professional with more than 15 years of experience in copywriting, storytelling, marketing, branding and web design, social media design, graphic design, strategic planning and project management. She built her career in a diverse range of roles where she excelled at wearing many hats including web content creator, communications specialist, knowledge translation expert, marketing expert, strategic planner and program manager. Sarah is a strategic thinker, skilled at research and communications, and thrives in an environment where she gets to create and implement strategies that engage and inspire target audiences

April Barlow

Professional Development and Events Lead

As the Professional Development and Events Lead, April Barlow brings a wealth of experience and a genuine eagerness to support IAP2 Canada. A skilled generalist, April has experience working in nonprofit, corporate, academic and startup environments, where she has excelled in operations, learning and development, communications, and HR functions. This diverse experience equips her to effectively support the association administratively, ensuring smooth operations, streamlined processes and successful events.

With a Bachelor's degree in French and Italian, along with a Post-graduate certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language, April has a strong background in language, education and assessment, and a passion for championing diversity and inclusion initiatives. With over a decade of experience supporting adult learners, April is passionate about professional development and self-improvement both professionally and personally. Outside of work, April finds joy in spending time with her family, cultivating her garden and immersing herself in literature.

Johana Gonzalez

Training and Professional Development Coordinator

Johana brings an extensive and diverse background spanning over a decade in the field of training and administration. Throughout her dynamic career journey, she has assumed a variety of roles, including that of a trainer, instructional designer, pedagogical coordinator, and curriculum designer across a wide spectrum of subjects. Her expertise extends to the creation of training materials, the development of comprehensive training design plans, and the establishment of efficient processes. She has consistently collaborated with trainers and subject matter experts, seamlessly supported administrative functions, and played a key role in coordinating training programs, among other responsibilities.

Johana holds a Project Management Certificate from Algonquin College and a Master of Education. She speaks Spanish, English, and French which gives her a unique multicultural perspective that enriches her work. She is eager to be part of IAP2 Canada's mission and use her passion for training and learning processes to assist individuals in achieving their goals.

Anne Harding

Indigenous Awareness Program Coordinator

Anne Harding is one of IAP2 Canada’s biggest fans, having been involved with the association as a member and volunteer for over a decade. Anne has a deep passion for Indigenous inclusion and reconciliation, which she lives out through her consulting practice at Forum Community Relations and her volunteer work in Community Engagement for the Indigenous Gathering Place Society of Calgary.

Anne has a Master of Arts in Corporate-Aboriginal Relations and holds a Certified Public Participation Professional (CP3) designation through IAP2 Canada. She is also the winner of a P2 for the Greater Good Core Values Award and volunteers as a Mentor and Core Values Award judge.

Claudia Sighomnou

Manager, Training & Professional Development

Claudia is a passionate partnership manager and capacity builder with a record of collaborating across national and international organizations to achieve common goals and interests. She is fluently bilingual and comes to us with a wealth of experience in training and professional development programs, partnership management, and business development.

She has extensive experience leading strategic initiatives related to the development and delivery of professional development, licensed designation, and certificate programs and specializes in community building, research and analysis, project management, event planning, curriculum review and delivery, and designing and operationalizing pathways to licensed designation and certificate programs. Her past roles included leading international development programs, global health, and human rights initiatives where she represented their vision, interests, and engagement towards target communities & social actions.

Claudia brings her experience to the IAP2 team to represent the vision, interests, and engagement of our community and help advance the practice of public participation (P2).

Beside her love for gardening and diamond painting, photography and treasure hunting are among Claudia’s many hobbies.
