Your Opportunity: Alberta Health Services is seeking an experienced engagement professional to join our Community Engagement and External Relations Team to cover a one-year term The successful candidate will bring vision, creativity and a spirit of collaboration to AHS’ communications and public relations activities. Working with a skilled team you will develop and support tools, processes and initiatives that provide Albertans with the opportunity to be part of decisions that impact their health, and their healthcare system.

Description: Your job will include a range of activities, such as: Develop and deliver stakeholder engagement plans, strategies and tactics - in collaboration with a wide variety of internal clients and external partners - to enhance public participation in decision-making, and to assist AHS’ decision-makers in being responsive to the public's concerns and perspectives. Prepare and manage engagement activities, including developing plans, meeting agendas, supporting materials, and reports. Host and facilitate a wide variety of engagement sessions – both virtually, and in person. Develop and support the use of virtual engagement tools and web-based platforms to extend AHS’ engagement reach. Monitor, evaluate and report on stakeholder engagement activities. Evaluate stakeholder management and participation to identify opportunities to expand the breadth of AHS’ engagement audiences. Provide strategic advice on issues management, risk mitigation and stakeholder communications relative to the engagement initiatives you support. Be aware of trends within and outside the organization, to identify potential engagement opportunities. Engage with, build and maintain relationships with internal and public stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
What you bring to the table: Degree in Public Relations, Communications, or related field. Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation and facilitation experience. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective working relationships across a broad spectrum of internal clients and community partners. Experience developing strategic engagement plans and tactics, including consultations, outreach initiatives, and collaborations. Excellent working knowledge of best practices in stakeholder engagement theory and practice. Ability to identify and address emerging issues. Ability to schedule and deliver to tight timelines. High degree of independent thinking and the ability to work autonomously, as well as part of a team. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Additional Required Qualifications: In addition, the following would be considered an asset: Five or more years’ experience in community engagement or stakeholder relations. IAP2 Certification (International Association for Public Participation). Previous experience working with government or public organizations. Experience developing and supporting virtual systems and online engagement tools.
