Job Description:

Reporting to the Lead, Advisory Council Relations, the Advisor, Advisory Council (Advisor) plays a key role in guiding and managing three Health Advisory Councils (HACs) to meet their legislated mandate to provide advice and feedback to Alberta Health Services (AHS). Health Advisory Councils are comprised of up to 15 AHS volunteers per Council representing the diversity of their geographic area. Councils are located in the Edmonton and Central Zone where they hold a minimum of three public meetings and one public engagement event each, per year, in addition to participating in engagement on a range of issues and topics. The Advisor is responsible for working with a diverse range of both internal and external stakeholders in guiding Council work and supporting Council activities. Stakeholder relations are a key element of the Advisor role. The Advisor works to ensure the voices of the community are included in health system planning and foster strong linkages between Council members and AHS leadership. Travel within Alberta is required for approximately six to 12 meetings per year between three Councils. This is a temporary position that ends September 2023.
