Every year the IAP2 Prairies Chapter hosts an AGM to share the efforts from the past year. In addition, we want to provide the opportunity for people interested in public engagement to come and learn more about IAP2, meet board members and enjoy a night of networking with colleagues.

WORKSHOP: Planning on the Prairies and Beyond - Engagement and Facilitation

Presenter: Samantha Mark, BA Hon, MCIP, RPP - Senior Manager of Regional and Community Planning, Prairie Wild

During this session Prairie Wild will share examples of their diverse work, the approach they use in engagement and facilitation for projects of all sizes, and some lessons learned. Participants will be engaged in a dialogue using some of the facilitation methods shared and how they can apply this in their own work/environment.

Prairie Wild Consulting has over 20+ years of experience rooted firmly on the prairies – growing where they are planted. Prairie Wild is known for delivering uniquely tailored planning and policy solutions in the areas of transparent citizen participation and engagement processes; community-based comprehensive regional and community planning and policy development; local and regional development; rural and northern diversification; cultural and heritage planning; land and infrastructure resiliency assessment and policy development; and, community-based social research.

Meet the Presenter

Samantha has led various comprehensive planning processes that integrate strategic planning, economic development, downtown revitalization, placemaking and design, heritage and culture, tourism, and more. She has project managed, facilitated, and written strengths-based community visioning policy and plans for numerous (50+) municipalities and districts, Indigenous communities, and organizations. This includes: District Plans; Official Community Plans; Zoning Bylaws; Strategic and Action Plans; Design and Conceptual Plans; Economic Development Related Plans; Housing Plans; and, Risk Assessment and Evaluation.

Samantha serves as an Executive Board Member with the International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) Prairies Chapter and is a Board member with the Saskatchewan Professional Planners Institute (SPPI). She also has a certificate in Group Facilitation from the University of Saskatchewan Centre for Continuing and Distance Education.
