IAP2 Canada – Board Nominations

Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the IAP2 Canada Board.  We are looking for people that are prepared to “roll up their sleeves” and make a difference in public participation in Canada.

For more information on what is needed and what could be required of you please take a look at the Nominations Information Package. The Board Membership 101 webinar gives important information on what the job entails -- for both Board members and deputy members. Watch it here.

Interested but want to know more?

The IAP2 Canada Board is interested in a diverse board and are looking for candidates who will help us achieve a diversity in geography, industry, experiences, skills, interests, and gender.

We are looking for board members who are excited about the development and implementation of a new 2018-2020 Strategic Plan and supporting the current  2015-2017 Strategic Plan.

The IAP2 Canada Board is looking for passionate people who want to make a positive difference for meaningful public participation in Canada.

In particular, the following skills or experience are needed:

  • Leadership and Vision

  • Financial oversight

  • Governance and administration

  • Interest in the IAP2 Federation (representing Canada on the Federation Board)

  • Virtual collaboration (chapter relations)

We hope that you will consider becoming a Board member.  It can be a very rewarding experience.  To nominate yourself please fill in this form and send it to info@iap2canada.ca – subject heading “Nomination Application”.

What is a Deputy Board Member?

Not ready to be a Board member but interested in learning more about what the IAP2 Canada Board does?  Then consider becoming a Deputy Board Member.  A Deputy Board Member serves a one-year non-elected term with the potential for a second year.

The Deputy Board Member opportunity will give you a chance to work with a current Board member to learn what they do, the decisions that the Board makes, the various activities that they might be leading, etc.  As well, you might be asked to dive in and help out where possible.  You will get to know the ins and outs of the work that the Board does without being required to attend the monthly meetings (although you can but you won't have the ability to vote).

If you are interested in becoming a Deputy Board Member the following are the next steps:

  1. View the "Board Membership 101” webinar

  2. Fill in the Board Nomination form.  Note that this is a one-year, non-elected term with the potential of a second year.

  3. Once the new board is in place, we will work with you to pair you with a board member taking into account your interests and board needs.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact info@iap2canada.ca.
