Featured Speaker & Topic:
Donovan Toews
, MCIP is a land use planner & public consultation specialist practicing primarily in Manitoba. Donovan is a Partner with Landmark Planning & Design Inc., a member of IAP2 Canada, and has built up a practice with a special emphasis on public engagement for infrastructure projects and challenging planning scenarios.
Donovan's topic will be "The Stakeholder Tier System: A Tool to Assist Management of Public Engagement Processes for Large Infrastructure Projects".
The Stakeholder Tier System provides a framework for identifying, sorting and managing individual stakeholders & stakeholder groups in a manner that recognizes the potential for some stakeholders to be more greatly impacted than others, rather than simply relying on a simple 'broadcast approach' to public engagement.
This approach was the subject of an article in the
Spring 2013 edition of Plan Canada
,
the official publication of the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP). CIP has graciously permitted their copyrighted story to be attached to this invitation.
