This two-day module provides a highly participatory overview of a range of practical tools and techniques you can use at all five levels of IAP2’s Public Participation Spectrum. It gives course participants an opportunity to try out a number of specific techniques including World Café, Interviews, Card Storming, Appreciative Inquiry, Open Space, Resident Feedback Registers, Revolving Conversations and Deliberative Forums. We’ll cover what to use and when, how to select and implement the right technique and how to tailor a technique for your needs and your participant’s expectations, based on strengths, weakness, practical use, cost and approach.  We’ll cover online engagement and social media with case studies, demonstration and exercises along with what to do – and what not to do.
