When you're bringing together a wide and diverse community for a project that affects everybody, you have to be ready to try something new -- or something innovative.

Sean Galloway, manager of urban design for the City of London, Ontario, was in that position when ReThink London was launched to set the city's goals and priorities for years to come, including planning for future roads, neighbourhoods, workplaces, community facilities, parks, and transportation.

Sean found that ReThink London also meant "ReThink Consultation". Sean will share with us the techniques used to inspire participation, draw out opinions and shape a collective vision for the community.

Joining Sean will be Mike Dahlstrom, senior planner for Washington County, Oregon, who led the preparations for the Aloha-Reedville Study and Livable Community Plan. The project won the 2014 Public Involvement Best Practices Award from IAP2 Cascades Chapter and has been cited as a Best Practice at a number of events in the US, including the Office of Economic Resiliency Conference in Washington, DC.

What worked for that project? What didn't? Find out at this month's webinar.
